Data Scientist

Playon is seeking a Data Scientist to spearhead the development of sports ranking systems and internal performance metrics. The primary focus will be on constructing data sets and algorithms to produce national and state rankings for high school teams featured on MaxPreps. In addition, you will support the organization with business intelligence insights to improve strategy, operations, and engagement. You will design and implement data-driven ranking algorithms for sports teams, continuously refine rankings formulas based on feedback, and build and maintain dashboards and reports that provide operational insights for decision-makers. To succeed, you should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, alongside 2+ years of experience in data science or sports analytics. Proficiency in Python, R, or similar data analysis tools, and advanced SQL skills with a strong focus on PostgreSQL are essential.
