Join the fight against climate change and take advantage of a unique opportunity on the cutting edge of climate policy at the New York City Department of Buildings. DOB has an essential role in implementing and enforcing New York City’s ground-breaking climate policies, including Local Law 97, which significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions from the city’s largest buildings. The buildings contribute nearly three-quarters of greenhouse gas emissions, a focus on efficiency, building energy usage, and decarbonization is critical. Under direction of the Director, Sustainability Policy and Legal Affairs, the Deputy Director, Sustainability Policy, will perform managerial work pertaining to implementation of building sustainability laws. The qualified candidate will have significant experience developing and implementing policy and advising executive staff on policy related to sustainable buildings and the clean energy transition. - Advise the Bureau of Sustainability on all policy matters related to sustainable buildings and the clean energy transition - Advise the Bureau in managing policy developments and formulating agency strategy, including new ideas for overall policy initiatives - Manage projects large and small to operationalize DOB’s sustainability policies, including the research, analysis, development, and drafting of policy documents - Review and support data analytics, ensuring the team’s analytical methodologies are rigorous and documented, and that findings are clear, insightful, and actionable - Represent the Bureau in internal and external meetings to formulate policy and negotiate creative solutions - Manage a staff of policy and data analysts
