Job Description
The Eating Disorder Prevention Specialist's responsibilities include facilitating/performing health promotion and wellness education planning and implementation activities. They will also participate in skills and capacity building activities, as well as research and evaluation activities. This role involves providing consumer-oriented eating disorder information and reference material within the community using print and electronic resources, and participating in academic forums.
The specialist will design, conduct, and update community assessments to determine population eating disorder educational needs, identify and develop wellness and education initiatives, and develop collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders. They will work with stakeholders to organize and implement health service, promotion, education, and community outreach events. The Prevention Specialist will also participate in community networks, assist community resources in accessing health-related services, and advocate for community resources to access opportunities and resources for building capacities and skills related to eating disorders.
Furthermore, the Specialist will implement a variety of health promotion strategies, provide culturally competent promotion strategies, and conduct in-service presentations for Community Program staff. They will also recommend appropriate educational material, provide quick reference and assistance locating appropriate referrals, present at health conferences, seek out opportunities to publish research findings, and precept students from variety of community health programs.
