Job Description

The IT Security Specialist (Assessments) continuously identifies, tracks, shares, and supports operational IT security requirements across the Ninth Circuit. This includes incident response, training, best practices, and risk management related to threats and vulnerabilities. The specialist regularly conducts on-site or virtual/remote IT security assessments at court units. Duties include conducting security assessments, providing support on policies, procedures, and technical issues, and offering guidance to court units and executive staff on IT risk management. The role also involves tracking the implementation of national IT security tools, assisting in resolving court unit challenges, and establishing relationships with AO program offices which provide IT security tools and services. Planning and providing support and training for court units circuit-wide also are duties. Additional responsibilities are managing circuit-level incident response, conducting risk assessments, and supporting the implementation of risk mitigation strategies. Requires strong understanding of IT Security best practices, along with at least 4 years of professional experience. Telework is an option for this position, with a preference for candidates within the Ninth Circuit. This position requires regular travel throughout the Ninth Circuit and occasional U.S. travel outside the Ninth Circuit.
