Element is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer to support a state government AI initiative focused on modernizing digital services and leveraging artificial intelligence for improved decision-making and citizen engagement. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems and infrastructure that support AI/ML workloads in compliance with state and federal security standards.

Support a transformative state government AI initiative focused on leveraging data to drive better decision-making, transparency, and service delivery as a Sr. Data Engineer. This role will be part of a multidisciplinary team building scalable data infrastructure, enabling machine learning applications, and ensuring data quality and governance across state systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data engineering, modern cloud architectures, and public-sector data practices.

This role is instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and data-driven applications that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve public services and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong background in modern web frameworks, cloud environments, and data-centric development, as well as experience collaborating in Agile teams on government technology projects.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, data scientists, and government stakeholders to build, test, and deploy secure, scalable web applications that power next-generation AI-driven solutions for the public sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle — from requirements gathering and design to development, deployment, and maintenance — while contributing to projects that enhance state services and improve citizen engagement.

Be on a team supporting a contract endeavor to modernize enterprise systems’ access, reducing manual effort, improving data accuracy, and enhancing transparency for stakeholders utilizing NLP and LLM techniques. Write effective, scalable code. Work closely with human centered design experts to implement solutions that are intuitive and personalized to each customer’s needs.
