Cytogenetic Analyst

The Cytogenetic Analyst is responsible for performing routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. They will monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment, software, and applications to ensure proper functionality. They will also make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving, reporting accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care. Main duties include performing analysis of chromosomes, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens. They will review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis, summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature, and distinguish between normal and abnormal test results. They will also perform and evaluate troubleshooting, and document all corrective actions as needed. They will comply with company policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
