Principal Engineer - Data ANZ Region

The problem you'd own:

• Buildkite's data includes deep build and test history from teams like Airbnb, OpenAI, Canva, Anthropic, and Pinterest.
• The core challenge is enabling agents to find, trust, and act on data safely and quickly.
• Rebuilding from the query engine up to support both internal and external self-serve.

The work itself:

• Own data architecture: strategy, technical calls, and patterns for the data effort.
• Choose the stack: query engines, semantic layer, ingestion, streaming, and storage.
• Design for agents and humans, staying hands-on and chasing bottlenecks.

• You have led data architecture at scale and owned decisions with a strong track record.
• You know the modern stack end-to-end, including semantic layers, query engines, and agentic AI.
• You thrive in a remote, async environment with high autonomy and no management path.
