Senior Payments Engineer

The Role:

• You own every movement of money between a customer's bank and the ledger, including rails, provider architecture, orchestration, and risk posture.
• The KPI is 99.99% reliability on gateway and banking integrations, and time-to-funds that the team measures, publishes, and beats every quarter.
• You are not building a checkout flow; you are building the liquidity that makes the marketplace work.

What You'll Own:

• Rails and money movement: ACH origination and returns, RTP and other instant rails, wires, cards, and stablecoin settlement.
• Provider architecture and orchestration: multi-PSP integrations and a single routing layer that considers cost, speed, and provider health.
• Payouts and collections, risk on high-value flows, payment operations, and the trade-off calls between speed and reliability.

What You Bring:

• 5+ years of backend systems experience with Python, Postgres, and AWS.
• Real money movement experience: ACH, RTP, FedNow, wires, or equivalent, including return codes and NACHA return windows.
• Multiple production payment provider integrations, API-native thinking, strong SQL, and an obsession with idempotency and failure modes.
