Job Description
The Grand Rapids Public Transportation Intern will advance equitable and sustainable transportation outcomes in Grand Rapids. Key responsibilities include building a local transit advocacy table, researching and assessing opportunities to expand local transportation and bicycle infrastructure, attending local transit agency meetings, city commission sessions, and community forums. The intern will also develop and maintain relationships with local agencies and elected officials, research and engage Grand Rapidsโ transit community on local and state budget processes.
The ideal intern will serve as a connector between state-level transit advocacy and local priorities in Grand Rapids, and keep the Climate Cabinet team updated with regular reports. Required skills include: experienced researcher with a knack for turning questions into actionable insights, project coordinator who keeps complex work moving smoothly and grounded in how government works and how to work with it.
