Job Description
The General Practitioner plays a vital role in leading and managing the delivery of primary healthcare services to immigration detainees within detention centres. This position demands a strong foundation in general practice and primary healthcare, along with specialised knowledge of the unique health needs within the detention environment—particularly in areas such as mental health and substance use. A key responsibility of the role is to provide clinical supervision and serve as the primary escalation point for health staff working within the immigration detention centre.
Providing preventative health checks, immunisations, and health promotion. Managing acute presentations and chronic diseases. Supporting patients with acute and chronic mental health issues. Adapting to the changing needs of the immigration field, ensuring flexibility in your approach to care.
