Performs delegated competency validated patient observation functions and applies technical skills of a limited uncomplicated nature. Remotely provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients using audio/visual technology. Verbally redirects the patient from engaging in risky behaviors. Following department procedures and escalation process, summons unit staff if the patient requires assistance. Maintains electronic visual & auditory observation of patients with safety concerns for up to 10 patients (depending on patient acuity). Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires. Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Maintains all required documentation as identified. Establishes and maintains courteous and effective relationships with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other members of the health care team.
