Protocol Engineer

The Open Home Foundation is seeking a Protocol Engineer to join the Ecosystem department. This role focuses on developing projects like ESPHome, Voice, Music Assistant, and Open Home Protocols (Zigbee/Z-Wave/Matter). The Protocol Engineer will work with Tech Leads to integrate protocols within Home Assistant by writing discovery schemas and debugging issues. The role involves implementing new features, fixing bugs within Home Assistant integration, testing devices, supporting users, and collaborating with team members to prioritize tasks. Code review and contribution to various projects within the Ecosystem are expected. Candidates should have 3+ years of back-end development experience, 1+ years of Python 3 experience, Git/Github proficiency, and experience with smart home protocol standards. Knowledge of Home Assistant and open-source contributions are preferred.
