Dean of Assessments

Essential Position Functions:

• Design and lead a cohesive, organization-wide assessment strategy aligned to academic goals and accountability systems.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of all assessments including planning, scheduling, execution, and post-assessment analysis.
• Ensure alignment between assessment systems and instructional priorities for student outcomes.

State & National Testing Leadership:

• Lead the design, coordination, and execution of all state-mandated assessments like STAAR, TELPAS, and TSIA2.
• Oversee national and college readiness assessments including SAT/ACT and ASVAB.
• Manage additional programs such as Iowa Assessments and formative diagnostic tools.

Testing Logistics & Operations:

• Own all logistics related to assessment implementation, including scheduling, staffing, materials, and technology readiness.
• Develop and implement standardized systems and protocols for test administration across all campuses.
• Monitor all testing environments to ensure fidelity, security, and adherence to procedures.

Training & Capacity Building:

• Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for all staff involved in testing.
• Ensure all staff are fully trained and certified on current testing platforms and compliance requirements.
• Provide ongoing updates and just-in-time training aligned to changes in state policies.
