Map Health and Generation:

  • Monitor map quality and drift indicators across the fleet to identify stores with degraded maps.
  • Remotely control robots to perform fresh SLAM mapping traversals when a full rebuild is needed.
  • Pull lidar scans from prior traversals to patch and extend existing maps without full remapping.

Map Editing and Validation:

  • Use photo editing software to clean up, align, and splice map segments, correcting artifacts and merging regions.
  • Validate patched and new maps against navigation performance before deployment to ensure issue resolution.
  • Log mapping incidents, root causes, and resolutions in tracking systems, contributing to playbooks for common failure patterns.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Engineering to flag toolchain gaps and inform improvements to automated mapping pipelines.
  • Partner with Robot Operations, Client Success, and Engineering to prioritize mapping needs and communicate timelines.
  • Maintain strong written communication for incident documentation and cross-team coordination.
