Underwriter

As an Underwriter, you’ll play a critical role in Hometap’s home equity investment process, making recommendations on both the homes and homeowners that we work with. The Underwriting team analyzes and digests a broad set of home and homeowner information to assess the risk profile of each application, making investment eligibility recommendations per the standards set out by our underwriting guidelines. In this role, you will work closely with our sales and processing teams to quickly and accurately review homeowner applications. You will also evaluate applicant information and risk against underwriting criteria to ensure application completeness, and make informed investment recommendations. Reviewing and analyzing appraisal reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines – evaluate comparables, market trends, and property conditions to ensure value is supported, and flag applications for potential concerns with regard to application completeness or risk. You will also determine eligibility amounts based on an analysis of the information applicant and property information, and collaborate with a cross-functional team of sales and operations associates to complete each application review.
