Lead Gas Trader

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead the gas platform, including team, processes, and controls for physical and financial gas management under high volatility.
• Manage physical gas and balancing risk across pipelines, optimizing transport and ensuring fuel reliability during extreme weather and price events.
• Execute financial hedging strategy using NYMEX products and basis swaps, while coordinating with Risk on limits and stress scenarios.
• Perform cross-commodity optimization with Power Trading and support origination on long-term fuel supply agreements.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of natural gas trading and scheduling experience, with deep expertise in volatile markets and derivatives.
• Proven experience managing basis, transport, and swing risk, particularly in regions like Midcon or Waha.
• Operational precision under volatility, with understanding of pipeline constraints and nomination cycles.
• Builder and leader experience, capable of standing up a new desk or function and designing scalable internal processes.
• Strategic and collaborative ability to communicate across engineering, development, and risk teams.
