Job Description

Performs delegated competency validated patient observation functions and applies technical skills of a limited uncomplicated nature. Maintains electronic visual & auditory observation of patients with safety concerns for up to 10 patients (depending on patient acuity). Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving on unit and upon completion of shift assignment. Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to nursing staff. Maintains all required documentation as identified on initiation, during observation, and discontinuation of continuous video monitoring. Demonstrates sound knowledge base and actions in the care of reporting observations for age specific patient populations to the RN. Establishes and maintains courteous and effective relationships with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other members of the health care team; demonstrates sensitivity and awareness to the needs of patients, visitors and co-workers and responds promptly to verbal and/or written instructions.
