Responsibilities include designing and implementing NIC device drivers for the Linux kernel, profiling and optimizing drivers to achieve low latency and high throughput under heavy workloads, and diagnose and fix kernel-level issues, including crashes, hardware/software interactions, etc. Also work with NIC hardware designers to understand device specifications, bring-up hardware, and validate firmware-driver interaction and produce detailed technical documentation for driver design and debugging procedures.
