Inpatient Coder

The Inpatient Coder verifies and abstracts clinical and demographic data from patient records, performs chart audits, and assigns accurate ICD-10 CM and PCS codes derived from medical record documentation. This role involves reviewing reports, identifying coding issues, summarizing findings, and recommending solutions, while actively working with physicians to correct discrepancies in coding and documentation. The coder ensures accurate and timely submission of accounts and collaborates with Compliance, Educators, and Auditors. They also act as a resource for coding questions, document special project work, and attend meetings to ensure all services are captured through codes. The position emphasizes excellent customer service and collaborative team relationships to contribute to the achievement of goals and a positive work environment.
