Job Description
Technical Leadership & Oversight:
- Lead structural engineering efforts for utility substation projects.
- Review project documents and develop structural Basis of Design (BOD).
- Design and size shallow and deep foundations based on geotechnical recommendations and equipment loads.
Client & Vendor Coordination:
- Coordinate with electrical engineers, control enclosure vendors, transformer manufacturers, and structure suppliers.
- Support client-facing meetings to present a design approach and resolve technical comments.
- Review vendor-supplied structural performance requirements and incorporate into foundation and anchorage design.
Other Areas of Focus:
- Provide input on internal design standards, templates, and QA/QC processes for substation projects.
- Assist in developing resource plans, scopes, and estimates for future HV structural projects.
- Serve as a technical mentor to junior structural engineers working on electrical infrastructure.
