Staff Engineer, Core Flight Controls

About you:

• You are an experienced flight controls engineer passionate about autonomous flight and making airplanes fly themselves.
• You are familiar with fixed wing aircraft and classical/modern control methods, and you use industry-standard tools.
• You are excited to work on novel applications in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement flight controls for the aircraft automation system, owning end-to-end delivery.
• Decompose system requirements into low-level flight controls requirements and create simulation tools.
• Participate in flight testing and collaborate across Merlin to develop certifiable systems.

Qualifications:

• BS in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of flight controls experience.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development for flight control systems.
• Experience with real-time systems, linear analysis, and frequency domain gain tuning.
