Sr Director I, Data Science

Technical Advisory & Quality Assurance:

• Serve as senior technical reviewer across active projects, identifying structural risks like data leakage and distribution shift.
• Challenge assumptions at the design stage regarding feature selection, target variables, and validation approaches.
• Provide specific actionable feedback rather than general guidance.

Strategic Business Partnership:

• Partner with DS managers and business stakeholders to assess opportunity areas and scope modeling applications.
• Help stakeholders understand data science capabilities and prioritize investments based on feasibility.
• Bridge technical execution and business strategy by framing model outputs in operational terms.

Mentorship & Community Leadership:

• Mentor data scientists and senior modelers across USDS, providing technical expertise and business acumen.
• Develop shared standards for code review, documentation, and reproducibility.
• Model intellectual rigor and humility, especially under organizational pressure.
