Job Description

The NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. The Borough Enforcement Unit (BEU) is a legal code enforcement unit that prepares all criminal court cases and access warrant applications for the New York City Department of Buildings. Under supervision, with wide latitude for independent decision-making. The Enforcement Attorney will perform case management, design legal strategies, and prosecute cases. They will also train staff, identify problem areas, and provide legal support to Borough Commissioners. They will work with other City Agencies, render legal interpretations, conduct investigations, and prepare reports.
