Kubernetes Operator Engineer

What You'll Be Up To:

• Own the architecture and evolution of the SMBP Operator's CRD API surface, designing extensions that meet enterprise expectations.
• Design and implement flexible network configuration patterns that give customers choice of ingress controller, load balancer, and traffic management approach.
• Build the observability integration enterprise customers expect: Prometheus-native metrics, ServiceMonitor CRDs, Kubernetes Events, and pre-built dashboards.

What Helps You Thrive:

• Production Rust experience and comfort owning a large, multi-crate Rust workspace with async Rust and lifetimes.
• Deep Kubernetes internals knowledge, including controllers, reconciliation loops, watches, and admission webhooks.
• Kubernetes operator development experience using controller-runtime, kube-runtime, or kubebuilder.

Great-to-Haves:

• Experience with kube-runtime specifically (Rust's Kubernetes controller framework).
• Familiarity with Strimzi (Kafka operator) for transaction log management.
• Cert-manager integration experience and Kubernetes Gateway API experience.
