Sr. Staff Software Engineer

Technical Leadership & Architecture:

• Set technical direction across Pathstream's platform and shape architecture decisions spanning service and team boundaries.
• Own the most complex, ambiguous technical work end-to-end: greenfield service design, large refactors, new platform capabilities.
• Anticipate systemic risks before they surface and drive resolution at the engineering org level.

Execution & Platform Health:

• Set and evolve the bar for quality versus speed in your domain, coaching others on pragmatic trade-offs.
• Act as senior technical authority for security and compliance, partnering on SOC2, vulnerability management, and threat modeling.
• Be deeply involved in code reviews of significant scope and impact, raising the quality bar and helping engineers grow.

AI & Agentic Engineering Leadership:

• Be a hands-on practitioner and force-multiplier for AI-native engineering, pushing the frontier of how Pathstream uses tools like Claude Code.
• Lead design and adoption of agentic engineering workflows, building frameworks, MCP servers, and evaluation harnesses.
• Coach engineers across the organization on collaborating effectively with AI systems.

People Leadership & Team Craft:

• Directly manage two mid-level engineers, owning their growth and performance end-to-end with regular 1:1s and feedback.
• Develop engineers beyond your direct reports through pairing, design feedback, and code review.
• Build strong relationships with product managers, designers, and cross-functional partners.
