Job Description
The Junior Customs Clearance Coordinator plays a vital role in preparing customs documentation and ensuring compliance with laws related to importing and exporting shipments. The coordinator is responsible for reviewing and processing customs documents, determining duties and taxes, processing payments on behalf of clients and communicating effectively with various stakeholders such as clients, customs, carriers, and freight forwarders. This role is essential to maintaining seamless operations in the shipping and logistics industry.
Major duties include preparing and reviewing customs documentation for imports and exports, processing B3 entries, classifying goods using HS tariff classifications, and liaising with importers and CBSA. The coordinator must handle inquiries from clients, customs, freight forwarders, and carriers, handle client billing, and maintain the client database. Additionally, they will provide basic support for cross-selling BorderBuddy's services and ensure timely completion of files.
The ideal candidate has one to three years of experience in a customs brokerage role, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in English. Experience with CargoWise, CANdata, or CARM is an asset. This position requires availability to work Wednesday through Sunday, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM PST.
