Collections Specialist

As a Collections Specialist, you will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of billing and reimbursement for medical services. This important role demands a solid understanding of medical terminology, coding, collections and billing procedures. This role will report to the RCM Patient Support and Collections Manager. Daily duties include reviewing claims with outstanding balances and identifying actions to collect revenues successfully, following up with patients to collect outstanding balances, and reviewing documents received, including Explanations of Benefits (EOBs), Remittance advice (RAs), and other documents indicating denials or claims acceptance to confirm accuracy of patient responsibility. You will also analyze denials, identify trends, and recommend process improvement opportunities that will result in reduction of Aging Days and superior collection rate. Other requirements include a High School/GED Education and previous experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred. Proficiency in electronic health records and billing software is needed in this role.
