Freelance Ticker Copy Editor

Key Responsibilities:

• Newsgathering, fact-checking, headline writing, and copy editing under intense minute-by-minute deadline conditions.
• Monitor sports calendar and live events to ensure the Ticker always presents timely news, scores, and relevant information.
• Check headlines and text before publishing for any potential legal issues, such as libelous statements or breach of copyright.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of editorial experience, preferably in online or TV medium.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Strong critical thinking, news judgment, and decision-making skills.

Additional Information:

• This is a temporary position lasting 2-3 months.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Remote candidates are considered; LA area preferred.
