Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the drafting, updating, and maintenance of underwriting guidelines and credit policy, translating investor overlays into clear internal standards.
  • Maintain underwriting authority structures and support testing of decision frameworks to ensure consistent application and identify gaps.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for guideline questions and credit policy clarifications, evaluating edge cases and escalating novel scenarios.

Qualifications:

  • 8 to 12+ years of experience in credit risk, underwriting, or credit policy within a lending or financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, interpret, and operationalize credit policy, with strong judgment for decisions under ambiguity.
  • Experience building underwriting governance frameworks and working with multiple investor guidelines, with manufactured housing lending preferred.

Operating Model & Decision Authority:

  • Operates as a senior individual contributor with functional ownership of credit policy and governance, with no direct people management.
  • Has final authority on routine guideline interpretations and approval for standard policy updates within defined parameters.
  • Provides data-driven insights through root cause analysis of defaulted loans to support continuous policy improvement.
