Job Description
The Coding Specialist is responsible for reviewing documents to identify all procedures and diagnosis, ensuring encounters have been coded correctly based on documents received, and using the most current coding guidelines. This role requires communicating and recognizing inadequate or incorrect documentation so that all coding is completed compliantly. Essential functions include ongoing analysis of medical record documentation, assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, performing MIPS review and Provider QA, documenting coding errors, and assisting coding management with client/provider audits and reviewing the work product of new coders in training.
