Essential Functions:
- Accurately abstracts information and assigns appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes into billing systems.
- Reviews and resolves coding denials and completes charges in assigned work queues promptly.
- Ensures documentation meets EM Guidelines and Teaching Physician Rules mandated by CMS.
Compliance and Communication:
- Maintains compliance with all coding rules, regulations, and company policies.
- Provides feedback on trending deficiencies to Senior Manager and Compliance Educator.
- Maintains daily/weekly communication with office managers, departments, and providers.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma or GED and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.
- Preferred experience of one to four years in physician coding.
- Must maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
