Job Description
The Data Engineer performs duties under the general supervision of the Director of Enterprise Applications and Development, working independently and collaboratively to support the Universityβs enterprise data infrastructure. This position plays a lead role in building and maintaining the Snowflake data warehouse environment, designing scalable ETL pipelines, and ensuring secure, efficient access to institutional data.
The Data Engineer will collaborate closely with software engineers, institutional research, and the Office of Innovation and Enhancement to deliver reliable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and strategic decision-making across the University. Key responsibilities include designing and developing scalable data pipelines and integrations using Snowflake, building and maintaining ETL/ELT processes, implementing data modeling and schema design best practices, managing Snowflake security, automating data workflows using Python and Azure-based services, and monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments. The role also involves documenting system architecture and evaluating emerging Snowflake features.
