Job Description

A Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) is a person who uses their direct or indirect experience of recovery from mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or significant trauma, combined with skills learned in formal training, to deliver peer-based recovery support services with a focus on improving overall health and well-being, and quality of life. Patient support includes assisting patients in identifying barriers to achieving sustained recovery and support by empowering them in the recovery management process. The PRS will educate on community resources, facilitate placement for higher levels of care as needed, and escalate crisis situations to appropriate personnel/agencies with Boulder policies & procedures. Community resource responsibilities include maintaining a working knowledge of appropriate services and resources to reduce the likelihood of health setbacks and promote improved health and well being, and sharing resources with PRS teammates and other company personnel. Administrative responsibilities include attending meetings and trainings, maintain confidentiality, and reviewing general patient status with other members of patient's Care Team.
