Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive test plan for two-phase nozzle operation with geothermal and refrigerant fluids.
  • Design and validate a thrust measurement system while characterizing spray behavior.
  • Reduce experimental variables to isolate nozzle performance and improve test repeatability.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with two-phase flow, organic rankine cycle systems, or nozzle/thrust measurement.
  • Strong experimental background with fluid systems, instrumentation, and test development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with compressor and refrigerant line design, HVAC or process engineering, or propulsion testing.
  • Ability to travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to support testing.

Project Scope:

  • Establish a reliable, repeatable methodology for thrust measurement.
  • Characterize mixed-phase flow exiting the nozzle.
  • Recommend instrumentation and test fixtures for high-confidence data.
