Overview:

  • Lightbridge is pioneering advanced nuclear fuel technology to make reactors safer, more efficient, and responsive to global energy needs.
  • The Waste Management Specialist is the lead responsible engineer for all waste streams at the pilot HALEU metallic fuel fabrication facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead responsible engineer for the facility waste management program, covering radioactive, mixed, and hazardous chemical waste streams.
  • Develop and maintain the facility Waste Management Plan and waste acceptance criteria, including waste characterization, segregation, and minimization procedures.
  • Package, label, and manifest waste shipments in compliance with DOT and NRC regulations, and maintain relationships with disposal facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in radioactive and/or hazardous waste management at an NRC- or DOE-licensed facility.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste regulations and DOT hazardous materials shipping requirements.
