Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the platform team in building, scaling, and maintaining core services and infrastructure at Knock.
  • Report directly to the CTO with high autonomy over the team's roadmap, people, and operations.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and write code strategically to unblock critical paths and set standards.

Team and Culture Development:

  • Focus on hiring and retaining excellent engineers to grow a diverse and high-performing team.
  • Shape Knock's broader engineering culture, standards, and tooling choices alongside the CTO.
  • Foster an inclusive and equitable environment, encouraging applicants from underrepresented communities.

Operational Excellence:

  • Lead on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortems to drive reliability improvements.
  • Partner with product engineering to manage dependencies and define SLAs measuring platform success.
  • Balance technical contributions with managerial duties, ensuring the team operates with pragmatism and craft.
