Counsel, Privacy and AI Regulation

Shape the future of trust-by-design for enterprise AI solutions. We are seeking a Counsel, Privacy and AI Regulation to join our Legal team and help navigate the complex global regulatory landscape governing AI, data privacy, and emerging technologies. This role will partner closely with product and other cross-functional stakeholders to shape and scale Cohere’s approach to trustworthy design, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation in line with global regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will balance legal rigor with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset. As a member of our Legal Team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to product managers, engineers, and designers, providing real-time legal guidance on AI/ML solutions, including on preventing misuse and addressing safety, privacy, and copyright risks and mitigations. You will also draft and implement internal policies, workflows, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with global AI and privacy regulations. This role requires you to convert complex legal requirements and industry standards (e.g. CCPA, US State AI legislation, industry codes of practice) into actionable technical and operational requirements.
