Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic SDLC - (EMEA Only)

What you’ll do:

• Contribute production-quality code to GitLab’s product and adjacent systems, including bug fixes, features, integrations, and performance improvements.
• Engage with strategically important customers when adoption, retention, or executive confidence is at risk, diagnosing problems across product, architecture, and infrastructure.
• Drive governed, measurable adoption of GitLab Duo Agent Platform, resolving AI adoption blockers and creating reusable patterns.

What you’ll bring:

• Staff-level experience building, operating, or improving complex production software systems.
• Strong Ruby on Rails or Go experience and ability to contribute to large, mature codebases.
• Deep knowledge of DevSecOps workflows, including Git, CI/CD, security controls, and enterprise software delivery.

What this role is not:

• A generic field engineering role or proof-of-concept factory.
• A replacement for Solutions Architecture, Customer Success, or Professional Services.
• A customer-specific customization function or unbilled Professional Services.

Success measures:

• Stabilizing strategic customer adoption or retention risks through direct engineering contributions.
• Removing AI adoption blockers for strategic accounts and creating reusable implementation patterns.
• Producing technical narratives, whitepapers, and frameworks that shape industry approaches.
