Prior Authorization Specialist

The Payor Relations Specialist manages the pre-certification and prior authorization of referrals scheduled for admission to the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital, using discretion and independent judgment. They follow the Select Workflow Process for initiating and completing patient authorizations, taking responsibility for the entire process from initial referral to final disposition. This includes submitting preadmission assessments, ensuring documentation standards are met, and obtaining timely authorizations. The specialist develops relationships to increase conversion and generate referrals, maintaining payer profiles and fostering teamwork with other departments. They serve as a resource to the Business Development Team and maintain relationships with customers, evaluating Non-Medicare benefits and applying written guidelines to reduce risk. Outstanding customer service is a must.
