VP, Data Engineering

We are seeking a visionary VP of Data Engineering to lead the transformation of our data architecture, governance, and strategy. This executive will address current scaling challenges in our single database architecture while establishing a forward-looking data framework that supports GitLab's growth trajectory. The VP of Data Engineering will develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy, lead the unification of metadata across all GitLab platforms and design scalable data solutions for both gitlab.com and Dedicated instances. This leader will partner with product leadership to ensure data considerations are integrated early in product planning, build and lead a world-class data engineering team, and establish enterprise-wide data governance practices and standards. The VP of Data Engineering will also create a roadmap for transitioning from ad-hoc data management solutions to robust, scalable systems and foster a data-driven culture across the organization.
