Job Description
The Safety Assurance for Effective Autonomous Driving Software (SAFE-ADS) department is part of the Global Product Safety, System, and Certification (GPSSC) organization at GM. This department serves as the central body for automated driving system (ADS) safety and brings together expertise from across the company to establish a comprehensive safety case. As the AV Safety Case Lead, you will report directly to the head of AV Safety Strategy and Assessment and lead this effort across GM, engage with regulatory bodies, and external consultants to develop, deliver and continuously improve the safety case for autonomous capabilities around the world.
You will define the vision, strategy and roadmap plan to successfully achieve safety case completeness to support the program launch. You will also compile and lead a program core team through the development and execution of each safety case, ensuring program core team members operate as accountable sub-program leads with appropriately staffed cross functional sub-teams. You will identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution. This role requires technical judgment in working with large, cross engineering teams to arrive at mutually agreeable solutions, driving accountability across the team through clear communication of goals and expectations, consistent follow-up and reporting, and creating a supportive environment.
