Job Description

The Office of Internal Affairs and Discipline (IAD) is seeking a Chief Investigator to assist with managing day to day operations of staff performing employee misconduct investigations and background investigations. The selected candidate will provide knowledge and expertise to the unit staff with respect to complex and high-priority backgrounds matters. The Chief Investigator will ensure that all backgrounds investigations are timely and appropriately reviewed, recorded, and assigned to an investigator. Responsibilities include coordinating and supervising field work, including sting operations, operating in an undercover capacity, performing surveillance, conducting audits, and performing site visits at active construction sites as needed; supervising and conducting interviews of subjects and witnesses, writing and reviewing lengthy, narrative reports recommendations, enforcement actions and orders issued by staff; advising subordinates on investigative steps and strategies in all aspects of duties and investigations. The Investigator will be utilizing various databases and web-based programs to verify and gather information and research public records.
