Job Overview:

  • We are seeking an experienced child forensic interviewer to provide expert consultation and testimony as an independent contractor.
  • You will evaluate the quality of child forensic interviews conducted by others and communicate findings to legal professionals.
  • This is a flexible part-time role with the opportunity to share expertise through CLE presentations.

Essential Functions:

  • Review video recordings, transcripts, and reports of child interviews, assessing adherence to standards and identifying issues like suggestibility or contamination.
  • Prepare written reports and provide expert testimony at depositions, trials, and other proceedings.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, deliver CLE presentations, and maintain current knowledge of relevant literature.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in social work, psychology, or related field preferred. Completion of an NCA-approved forensic interview training curriculum.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience conducting child forensic interviews, with prior court testimony and expert witness experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices, child development, and the peer-reviewed literature on memory and suggestibility.

Compensation Structure:

  • Base rate of $100–$150/hour for pre-trial services, with a 100% completion payment upon case closure, making effective total $200–$300/hour.
  • Testimony paid at flat half-day rate ($500 base + $500 completion = $1,000), and travel time at $50/hour base plus completion.
  • No employee benefits are provided; this is an independent contractor position.
