AVP, Senior Underwriting Manager - Public Entity Education

Manages a team of remote Public Entity Underwriters that are focused on education risks. The team is made up of Renewal Only Underwriters and Production Underwriters. Holds a full suite of management responsibilities for the team: attraction, development, pay and performance management, and communication of underwriting strategy. Contributes to planning and strategy development for the business area owned by manager. Responsibilities: Drives a culture of underwriting excellence across entire portfolio. Drives change initiatives within the team. Maintains a visible external profile and excellent relationships with external brokers/agents, partners and stakeholders, leveraging these relationships to help the team achieve their goals and expand their own networks. Acts as a point of escalation/referral on particularly tricky or novel underwriting decisions. May cover for manager where required. Accountable for the performance of a portfolio underwritten by the team. Ability to quickly learn a complex proprietary underwriting platform required. May underwrite specific policies and deliver the work of an Underwriter on rare occasions .
