Support the design of the reactor’s fuel system including fuel form, geometry, cladding, and assembly configurations.
Evaluate fuel thermal and mechanical behavior under various conditions.
Coordinate with suppliers to obtain design data and fabrication constraints.

Fuel Performance Modeling:

Build and run fuel performance models using BISON, FRAPCON, or similar tools.
Analyze fuel burnup, depletion, and end-of-life behavior.
Validate and benchmark models using available data for V&V efforts.

Materials & Testing:

Characterize cladding and structural materials under irradiation.
Assist with test plans for fuel samples and post-irradiation examination.
Interface with suppliers and national labs to gather data for safety analysis.
