About the Role:
- Applied AI/ML Engineer owns the intelligence layer of Project Interstellar, building production LLM systems that perform reliably at scale in a HIPAA-regulated environment.
- This is an applied role focused on building production systems, not research, with direct collaboration with the Lead Backend Engineer.
What You Will Build:
- Production-grade structured data extraction pipelines for complex domain-specific documents.
- Model abstraction layer, agent orchestration framework, quality assurance agents, and RAG layers over internal knowledge bases.
- Training and evaluation systems for platform operators, plus prompt engineering infrastructure with versioning and A/B evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Own all AI/ML system design and implementation on the platform.
- Design and maintain prompt engineering infrastructure, structured extraction pipelines, and agent orchestration.
- Establish AI quality standards, confidence thresholds, and human escalation triggers.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range of $175,000 – $250,000 per year plus performance bonuses.
