Job Description
As a CGS Paralegal, you will work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor, providing litigation and administrative support to a group of United States Attorneys. Key responsibilities include collecting court-ordered restitutions and fines, drafting legal documents, and managing collection activities. You'll prepare garnishments, liens, demand letters, and subpoenas, while also conducting fact research in public information databases.
Your role will extend to preparing legal documents, providing trial preparation assistance, and maintaining case files. You'll also assist AUSAs in producing discovery to defense counsel and manage case material using databases, spreadsheets, and word processing applications. The role involves filing pleadings using the Electronic Court Filing system (ECF) and completing travel arrangements in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
The position requires a paralegal certificate, JD, or current attendance at an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study. One year of litigation paralegal experience is required along with familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures. Excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of computer applications, and the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure are essential.
