Job Description
The Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is responsible for performing routine and complex encounter form coding for ambulatory professional services. This position will serve as an expert on coding processes, as well as maintaining accuracy and regulatory compliance. The CPC collaborates closely with clinical and administrative teams to optimize revenue cycle outcomes and support organizational goals. This is a remote position, and the Certified Professional Coder will be required to live in Washington state or Texas.
Review electronic medical records initiated by clinicians. Verify and code diagnoses, evaluation and management (E/M) services, procedures, and other required codes for record accuracy and completeness. Review and verify the component parts of medical records to ensure accuracy in diagnoses, operations, and special therapeutic procedures. Code and review principal diagnoses, co-morbidities, complications, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, supplies, materials, injections, and drugs using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS (all levels), and other required coding systems. Perform quality control checks on data entered prior to transmittal and corrects errors as indicated. Analyze medical record documentation for consistency and completeness using established criteria and regulations. Ensure all documents in the medical record include authorized signatures and sufficient documentation to support diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes.
