Director of Design Engineering

This role involves establishing and scaling the Design Engineering discipline within the Design organization, requiring leadership and strategic thinking. Responsibilities include:

-Defining the strategy for translating design intent into manufacturable products.

-Setting standards for material selection and prototyping.

-Leading the team to turn ideas into realities.

This position focuses on bridging the gap between design and manufacturing by:

-Serving as the primary liaison between the Design team and external manufacturers.

-Providing deep technical guidance in materials development and mechanical engineering.

-Evaluating vendor capabilities to ensure manufacturability.

The role also needs to ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and sustainability by:

-Driving design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.

-Evaluating new materials and manufacturing techniques.

-Owning the engineering side of design reviews.
