This position will lead our entire indirect tax function from end-to-end and will be responsible for our indirect tax processes, technology implementations, strategy, tax product advisory, global indirect tax controversy, indirect tax M&A planning, and team development. You will own and evolve Upwork’s global indirect tax strategy, ensuring compliance with VAT, GST, DST, and sales/use tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Manage the preparation and review of global indirect tax filings across North America, LATAM, and APAC, encompassing sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and other related taxes. Oversee preparation and review of annual US property tax, 1099, and business tax filings. Utilize Alteryx and other automation tools to generate tax workpapers, and ensure tax and financial statement reporting are aligned.
